--Payment was $15.00 for 1,500 word project.
--The project had to be extended to 3,200 words because the client was asking for action scenes, landscape descriptions, dialogue, and transition story. It was hard to fit all of that into 1,500 words. I was still given the agreed payment for three-four pages.
--This would be my first knight story project with action scenes. My first project I was paid to do. I learned a lot about what I can do and what I can not do. There is some things I need to work on. I need to write better action scenes and transition scenes. The client accepted the project and is going to edit the project. This is the draft version.
--I am also going to edit this story later.
Legends of the Warrior Woman Laela
(Today, blood will be cut. The blood of my enemies and the blood of traitors. The anger I felt 3 months ago will be satisfied today.)
“Put that fire out,” said Laela. “Yes Leader,” said Jacky. “She is too dumb to be my subordinate,” Laela thought to herself. Laela and Jacky were riding far past the blue meadows. The path was long and quiet. Filled with blue trees and blue grass. Blue was a color seen much in the city of Yigor. They past through the Yigor Forest and Headed west towards the Plasmonia Cave.
They hit the sides of their horses to pick up in speed. The trip was going to take about six hours to get there and the tip claimed there was bandits traveling. A local book store seller provided the information. Laela followed the map that was given. She wanted to reach the exact location of the cave. The map was a small piece of brown paper with black lines. Laela rode on a black horse with black hair while Jacky rode on a tan horse with black hair. The destination was coming near. The women decided to stop. The two got off their horses and camped a few hundred meters away from a bandit camp. The bandit camp was only a few meters away from the cave.
A dark path with lava lead to the entrance to the cave. The sky was grey and there was smoke everywhere. In the distance, you could see lava spilling on the dark path. The orange fire flickered and burned everything it touched. The fire was extremely hot and it would be wise not to go near it.
They were searching for the Twin Swords of Linick. Two Swords that are worth 1,000 hato coins. The value of 1 hato coin is worth 2,000 silver coins. This reward would not all go to them. They had a clan to report back to. The clan was the Lewd Knights. The clan took them in many years ago and trained them in strict arts of a warrior. Discipline only deserving to the bravest of the brave. They owed the clan their life.
Laela’s partner Jacky, was a girl that just turned 18. Her face was very pretty and she looked like the pretty girl that worked at the bar. The one in Yigor. It is unknown if she is related to her. Her body was thin and childlike. You would think she was a child if you looked at her. Long brown hair tied up in a side pony tail. The hair was sealed with a green bandage. She was wearing the armor set her sister gave her before she died. The armor was made of leather and it came in two pieces. The first piece was the brown leather pants fitted with black knee Gradia shield pads. It also came with the Gradia black boots with two connected straps and brown roped shoe strings. The second piece was the brown shirt with black Gradia shield pads. It also came with two buttons to connect the collar of the shirt. A gradia chest plate was also included with the top piece, but Jacky decided not to wear it this time. Jacky also carried her bow which is dipped in red racci wine which is connected to her blue arrows. Blue, was her favorite color. Jacky always made sure to have blue arrows when hunting. She also carried her short sword. The sword her dead sister also gave her a long time ago.
Laela’s armor was more rigorous and expensive. She been hunting for ten years. Some consider her to be the High Sword Master. She has never defeated her chief in a spare match, so she is not really qualified to be High Sword Master. Many see her skills and never know of any other. They don't know any knight that strikes with such force. Laela’s face was always very cold and very pale. Her emotions have been ripped from her heart. She saw a lot of pain and tries to not let her the emotions get in the way of the mission. She only thinks about the battles and the mission. Also, the blood.
Laela’s hair was black with a touch of dark blue. She let it grow to her shoulders and if it got longer she would cut it immediately. She had one 1 bang in the front and two short side burns on the side. Laela’s was wearing grey armor with a 3 piece set. She decided to only wear two pieces this time. She wore the Woaghis chest armor with a dark blue long sleeve shirt. The armor came with a chest plate, shoulder plate, back plate, and two full arm plating. Laela decided to take off the armor plated parts and just wear the chest armor, back armor, and the shoulder plates. The cave was going to be in a humid place. She didn’t want to burn up too fast while fighting. She decided it would be in her best interest to lose some armor.
Her bottom armor piece consisted of black leather pants and black boots with three connect straps. The armor plates are located on the sides of her upper legs and shins. She also had some grey plates on her knee caps. Her groin area was also covered with grey plating. She was once kicked in the groin area. She never wants to experience the pain again. Armor was scratched with a symbol of the Lewd Knights on her chest. Her captain rank was also attached to her shoulder armor to let the subordinates know authority.
Laela, carried a long sword that had a green blade. It was made by a forest black smith. He said the green color would be more suited for a pretty lady. Laela, did not like the black smith, but the color was different. The hilt of the sword was brown and connected to a brown sheath. She also carried her small silver dagger. A dagger she would use to sneak up on enemies. It always served her when she least expected.
There was two enemies near by. Laela said, “Jacky, stand down, I am going to take care of this.” Jacky said, “Yes, leader but don’t get caught.” Laela looked at Jacky and Jacky started to laugh quietly. Laela directed her focus back on the mission. She turned her head towards the two men and grabbed the the small knife on her right side. She loosen the knife strap on the right side. Located in the middle of her right thigh. She took the blade out and put it in reverse position. Then she moved to sneak position and crouched.
She started walking to the two men slowly. The two men were looking at the cave and didn’t think of looking behind them. They Stood next to a tent that was a few feet away. One of them was talking about his wife in the city Azgari. Laela, walked closer to the target on the left. Then, she took the knife and slammed it in the middle of the bandit’s neck. The other bandit took noticed quickly. He tried to pull his sword, but he was kicked. Laela kicked him 2 seconds after stinging the first man. The second bandit fell in the hot lava. The lava scorched his body. It started turning his face red with heat. Then, it started to peel his skin piece by piece. His hair caught on fire and burned the top part of his head. His clothes were sucked into the lava and his body was naked for a few seconds. After which, he sunked to the bottom of the lava lake. Strangely, he did not scream and just waited for his fate to be over.
“You could of stabbed him you know,” Jacky said. “Why do you have to punish people so badly leader,” said Jacky. “I punish however I please Jacky,” Said Laela. “My enemies are my enemies and I have no concern for how they die,” said Laela. “Shut your lips. We are running out of time. Let's move,” said Laela. Jacky said, “Yes leader.”
The two women then ran along the black path. Feet hitting the dark coal and feeling the sand texture. They ran with one foot quickly pass the other. The lava tried to get them as they crossed. The path got crooked and tight. The lava was opening up around the path. There were some pieces falling off to the lava. They had to jump across certain spots and dodge sudden lava outburst. After a few feet, they had to cross the last gap to get to the cave. It would only be possible if they were running at a descent speed and jumped. They both jumped across. Laela went first and then Jacky. Jacky missed the jump and was about to fall into the lava. Laela grabbed Jacky’s hand at the last second and pulled her away from the lava. She then slapped her across the head and gave her the hand signal to follow. They made it to the cave entrance. Laela looked at Jacky. “Are you tired so fast?,” said Laela. “Leader, it is my first day. I am not as experienced as you,” said Jacky. “Well, you better learn to move your feet today or you are going to be left in dirt,” said Laela. Jacky said, “………”
The two women walked in the cave. Laela pulled out her sword and Jacky equipped her red bow. The two walked closely. Weapons pointed at anything that posed a threat. Jacky was watching the rear while Laela was watching the front. After a few steps, Jacky said something. “Leader, you ever get scared in a hunt?,” said Jacky. “Sometimes, most of the time its nothing I need to worry about. Its just my mind trying to install false sense of fear in my head,” said Laela. “Filling my head with thoughts that are not true and trying to make me weak.” “Your mind does not know everything Jacky. Do not trust it all the time,” said Laela. “That makes little sense leader but I will try to remember what you said,” said Jacky.
An arrow shot through the wind. It made a wishy sound. It hit Jacky in the left shoulder. Jacky screamed like a little girl and dropped her bow. Laela searched around. She looked back at Jacky. She stood still on the floor. Her body could barley move and sweat was falling off the side of her face. “Leader, Leader,” said Jacky. Laela looked around for the person that shot the arrow. She couldn’t see anything. Not even a sign of something. Who ever shot her was fast on their feet. There was a torch lit but it was a 100 meters away. It wasn’t close enough to see clearly. The cave the two girls walked in was still dark. Only shadows could be seen on the sides of the cave. There was no way to pinpoint who could have made the shot.
A sword made a sound. Laela caught the sound and decided to duck. She missed the blade and pieces of he hair fell to the ground. She turned around and grip the long sword with two hands. Her mind was now full alert and ready to kill. She had to be completely focused if she was going to survive this. A woman appeared in front of her. She walked slowly as if she was not about to die. Her confidence was high.
The woman was young and carrying a bow. The bandit threw the bow on the ground and rushed Laela. She also had a little knife. Another woman stepped out and drew a long sword. Laela was now going to fight two women at the same time. She would like a fight with 1 on 1. But, this was not a night for Laela.
“My sword will kill both of you but you can try to please me,” said Laela. The bandit woman with the knife swiped at Laela in a horizontal slash. Laela blocked the attack and grabbed the hand with a knife. The girl in the back tried to stab Laela with the long sword. Laela pushed the girl off of her sword and hit the girl in the back with the hilt of the sword. The girl behind Laela coughed blood and fell to the ground.
Laela then pushed the bandit with a knife. The girl fell backwards and dropped a knife. The knife skidded across the floor. Laela then turned her gaze towards the bandit with the knife. The knife was on the ground now. She waited for the little girl to pick the knife back up and try to attack. She picked it up again and rushed Lala once more. She moved with a strange technique this time and then swung vertically at Laela. Laela dodged the attack and swung her sword at the girl’s mouth. She felt the tingle of her teeth cracking as the blade smashed the teeth and went straight to her brain. The sword did not completely chop the girl’s head off. Laela wanted her to feel the pain so she decided to cut her face half way. The sword was sliced out of the face and let out a lot of blood. “Stupid girl, should never give a full swing unless you know it will hit the target,” said Laela.
Laela then turned towards the bandit girl that was hit with the hilt of her sword. Then bandit girl was crawling forward and trying to reach for the long sword. Laela stepped on her back to stop her. She then kicked her in the face. Then, she lifted her sword and rotated the sword to a downward position. The sword was then thrusted down in a quick gravity thrust. The impact broke the girl’s ribs and cut through her heart. Then it hit the ground of the cave. When Laela pulled the sword out, the sound of bones could be heard.
Laela then turned towards Jacky. She was standing now and breathing hard. “Jacky, go back to the base. I am going to take care of the rest. Go get some help.” said Laela. “Okay, uh later leader,” said Jacky.
Laela turned to the path that lead to the twin swords and ran. Laela became angry now. She was suppose to keep her new disciple safe. She failed and Laela hated failure more then anything else. She decided she was going to kill slowly who ever lead this bandit group badly.
Her feet was moving fast. Moving forward and trying to get to the end. Each step was moving faster as the path to the destination got longer. She jumped over ladders and slid through cracks to get to the end of the path as quickly as possible. The cave was getting darker and the spaces between the torches was getting wider. Laela was not afraid of the dark. Laela would often practice sword fighting in pitch darkness to build her self awareness higher. After a couple more steps, she saw the leader.
She saw a shaved woman with blonde hair. Her hair was very small and even. She looked like a man from the back. Her arms were very muscular and looked very experienced. Her eyes were red with blood. Laela saw the look before. It is the look of someone that has killed 1,000 people. Her armor was really tough and made of steel. This was the bandit leader that Laela was looking for.
“Why are you here,” said bandit leader. “I am here to take the Twin Swords of Linick. Run away and save me the time of drawing my sword,” said Laela. “I not giving you the swords. I need the money to build myself a new army or maybe I need the money to kill you.” said bandit leader. “Draw your sword,” said Laela.
The warriors drew their swords and stared at each other for a few minutes. Each warrior gripped their sword tightly and with both hands. Laela moved first. She swung vertically and then horizontally. The sword missed and the bandit leader hit Laela with a 3 sword combo. The combo was fast and Laela was not able to dodge all the attacks. She hit Laela with two vertical swings and one thrust. One of the vertical swings was backhand vertical uplift swing. Her forearm was cut. The damage was not too bad. It cut a little deeply.
Laela, knew she couldn’t play with this bandit leader for much longer. The leader was too skilled. She had to kill her with one blow and she had to kill her fast. There was no other option. She jumped in the air and pointed her green sword upward. The attack was deflected which was part of the plan. The bandit leader tried to chop Laela’s head with a horizontal strike to the neck. That is when Laela dropped low and wacked the bandit’s heels with a low horizontal strike. The bandit leader screamed and fell to the floor. Laela kicked the sword away from the bandit leader. “I am going to kill you and for hurting my disciple, I am going to kill you slowly,” said Laela. The bandit leader said nothing.
Laela started with the legs. She took her sword and chopped each leg piece in small measurements. Each time she hacked down on one of the legs the bandit leader screamed. Onced the legs were finished, she moved to the arms. She started hacking the fingers off one by one. Then, she moved to hacking off small pieces of the arm. After she finished. She drew her sword up high and shifted the blade to downward. She thrusted the blade into the bandit’s eyes slightly. She doesn’t want the bandit to die just yet. She felt it wasn’t time yet. She decided to spend a few more hours torturing her victim. She continued for about 5 more hours. Then she put the sword back in the bandit's two eyes and pushed down slowly on the sword's hilt.
She took a few minutes to rest. She looked for a rock to sit on. She exhausted a lot of strength to get her revenge. She looked around for the Twin Swords of Linick. She saw them lying on a pile of gold. The swords were beautiful. The the blades were made of gold and the holster was decorated with different jewels. The sheath was also covered in jewels. She walked to the swords and touched them. The edge of the blades were still sharp. She took the blades to the sunlight opening in the middle of the cave and watched the blades shine the darkness with a yellow light.
Laela thought about what happen today and remembered that her disciple got hurt. She decided she was going to yell at her disciple for being so stupid and not training enough. Laela put the swords in her bag and ran back to the clan.
The End
