What Were the Challenges That People Faced In Ancient Mesopotamia and Nile River Valley?

The people living in the Mesopotamia era had to deal with many problems. They lived in the middle of two rivers. From time to time they would get invaded by thieves or attackers. Thieves wanted their food and they wanted other supplies that the people of Mesopotamia had. The invasions made it difficult for them to grow food on land. Another problem the people of Mesopotamia was the flow of water. They needed water to transport and receive goods to other places. The floods that occurred once a year would mess up the flow of water which would mess up the transportation of goods. To fix the problems of the water supply and of the attackers that came to their village the people had to build city gates. A city gate is place that has high walls built for protection. They also had to build a sewer system and a water system for entering and exiting the city in order to transport goods in a safe way.
