Learning Your Self-Esteem
I have learned five concepts from the “Psychology For Success” textbook about self-esteem. The first concept I have learned about self-esteem is your inner critic. Your inner critic is the person talking in your head. You have to control your inner voice. Most people tell themselves negative things that are very untrue. Every time a person fails at something that person calls themselves a loser. Every time something bad happens to a person, a person will immediately insult themselves with the inner voice. The inner voice is in each person’s control. If person does not control this inner voice, the inner voice will control the person. There are things that are your fault and there are things that are not your fault. The next concept I learned about self esteem is use affirmations. Your self-esteem needs you to tell yourself positive things. You have to tell yourself that you are a good person. You have to direct your self in the positive way that you want to move in. If you do not start listening to yourself, you will follow a path you did not want.
The third concept that I learned about self-esteem is ignore critics. I know that this is a very difficult process and something that most people struggle with. It is very hard to ignore criticism when you hear it every day. You have to ignore it by not listening to every opinion that people tell you. The fourth concept that I about self-esteem is self acceptance. Self acceptance is when you accept things about your self that you know is true. You have to accept yourself and know that the only expectations that you need to fulfill is yourself. Some people you to do a bunch of things so you will not be able to do what you want to do. Preventing yourself from doing what you want to do is like saying to yourself that what you want is not important. The fifth concept that I learned from self-esteem is handle criticism. Handling criticism is very important for each person in a public place. In modern times, people are criticizing people that they do not even know. It is similar to the movie called “Rambo: First Blood”. There are people living in the American society that want to start trouble for amusement. A person needs to realize that a person’s opinion is just an opinion. In order to handle criticism, you have to know that what the other person is saying is not true. Then you have to tell your self positive things in order to feel better about yourself.
